Which is the best guided tour?

The guided tour of Versailles comes with three ticketing types. Are you puzzling about which one to choose?

We will help you!

All three tickets assure you of a 90-minute tour of the main Palace building. But the Versailles has more to offer.

If you are traveling with family, you can pick a 90-minute tour of the palace and a self-guided tour of the Gardens as you can spend leisure time.

If you want all the attractions included in one ticket, a Guided Tour with entrance to the Gardens and Estates would be the best option.

If you are time-bound, pick a 90-minute guided tour of the palace and a 45-minute tour of the Gardens, as this option would be fair enough to explore Versailles.

What to expect from the Versailles Guided Tour?

  • You will get a live guide and access to the Palace, Gardens, Trianon Estate, Marie Antoinette Estate, and Park, depending on your ticket type.
  • Generally, you’ll wait in the ticket queue for 30 to 120 minutes. However, this ticket allows you to skip the line, and your live guide will escort you to the designated entrance, saving you time.
  • The French monarchy lasted for more than a century, starting from 1682 to 1789, and there are hundreds of stories about its rise and fall. Your guide will share these stories, which will infotain you.
  • Roam around the State Apartments and Hall of Mirrors and witness the decor that was once used by the French Monarch.
  • The Grand Canal and Lake of the Swiss Guards are two large water features near the park. Take a picnic in the park and enjoy the scenic beauty of Versailles.
  • You will learn more about Marie Antoinette’s lifestyle when you visit her estate.

Should you book a self-guided tour instead?

The Versailles Self-Guided Tour, which includes an audio guide and entry to a musical show, costs €32 per person.

However, we don’t recommend it because you may have to wait in a long queue to get an entry, and during the peak season, the royal residence will get crowded.

Besides, touring the historical palace without a guide doesn’t give you a complete experience, as you may not know its background.

With the guided tour, you can explore the Château de Versailles with a guide and roam its Gardens and Estates at your own pace.

We suggest booking the Versailles Guided ticket over the self-guided tour for a wholesome experience.
