How to buy tickets through the official Versailles Palace website
Attraction and date selection
To begin, head to the official website of the Château de Versailles. Click the “Choose a Ticket” button on the homepage or go to Plan Your Visit > Tickets and Prices from the main menu.
You’ll be shown a calendar interface. Simply pick your desired visit date, and the site will display all ticket options available on that day. The system also prompts you to select a time slot for entry, this helps the palace manage crowds and ensures a smoother experience for visitors. It’s recommended to arrive at the entrance 15–30 minutes before your selected time.
Ticket selection
After choosing your ticket type and time, the site will ask how many of each ticket type you need including full price, reduced rate, and free admission (for eligible visitors such as EU residents under 26).
You’ll also get the option to add extras, such as an audioguide. This is recommended for those who want to explore at their own pace with commentary. Click Add to Cart and continue to Checkout.
Check-out & payment
You’ll be asked to log in or create an account. If you’re a new visitor, simply fill out a short form with your name, email, address, and contact details. Returning users can log in to access previous bookings and download tickets.
Next, proceed to the payment page. Enter your credit or debit card details to complete the booking. After payment, you’ll get a confirmation email with your receipt and downloadable e-tickets.

By Train: You can reach the Palace of Versailles from three train stations: Versailles Château – Rive Gauche (RER), Versailles Chantiers (SNCF), and Versailles Rive Droite (SNCF).
By Bus: Hop on Bus Line 171, which operates from Pont de Sèvres to Place d’Armes Versailles. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes.
By Car: The quickest route from Paris to Versailles is via the N118 road. A taxi ride typically costs between €35 and €60, depending on the time of day.
The main entrance to the Palace of Versailles is through the Court of Honor. Once inside the courtyard, you will find three doorways leading into the castle:
- Entrance A (top left of the courtyard): For visitors with pre-purchased tickets.
- Entrance B (top right of the courtyard): For reserved groups.
- Entrance H: Reserved for guests with impairments.
Facilities: Palace of Versailles is well-equipped with all the essential amenities, such as cloakrooms, water supply points, restrooms, baby changing table facilities, an audio guide, free wifi, and mobile charging points.
Luggage Storage: You can securely store your luggage at the free automatic deposit in the North Ministers’ Wing. Your bags must not exceed 46 x 43 x 26 cm.
Restrooms: They are available throughout the palace. Even without a ticket, you can use the restroom (including changing tables for babies) in the South Ministers’ Wing, located to the left in the Court of Honour.The North Ministers’ Wing, South Ministers’ Wing, and Dufour Pavilion have free mobile charging stations.
